Please reach us at support@myability.org.uk if you cannot find an answer to your question.
My Ability are a young person-led disability support service providing high quality support to children and adults living with a disability. Our aim is to help individuals and their loved ones live happy and fulfilled lives through community experiences.
Domiciliary care is support provided to individuals out in the community to ensure independence, while providing the necessary assistance.
Domiciliary care is suitable for individuals of all ages who need support to live independently, including older adults, people with disabilities, autism, learning difficulties and those recovering from mental health, illness or surgery.
We currently cover the areas of Oldham, Rochdale, Tameside, Derbyshire and Manchester.
We are eager to take on even more councils in the near future.
You can contact us via our on call phone 01457321527, email support@myability.org.uk or on our online form which you can find on our website. We will then arrange an initial meeting to discuss the needs of the individual and what we can offer in order to meet their needs. This will also give individuals and families the opportunity to ask any questions they have to alleviate any concerns.
Arranging support is generally a quick process. Once an initial meeting has taken place and all the forms have been completed on both ends, we will choose a support worker who we believe would best suit the individual.
Yes, we offer short-term, respite and long-term care solutions to suit your needs.
Yes, all our support workers must complete their Care Certificate training. This also includes having an enhanced DBS check and undergoing any continuous training.
Before joining our team, staff are required to complete a vigorous interview process, in which if they are successful, they will then be required to shadow our senior members of staff to gain an insight of what we expect an ideal session to look like.
Absolutely. We aim to match you with a support worker suited to your needs and personality and offer introductory meetings whenever possible. We believe this is the start of forming a good, trusting relationship with your support worker.
Continuity of care is important to us. Our aim is to assign regular support workers to guarantee consistency for our service users. However, there may be times that are out of our control when another staff member will cover due to holidays or emergencies. This is dependent on whether the families want that cover also.
