Job Specification – Support Worker (Domiciliary Care)

  My Ability is a community-based care company supporting both children and adults with disabilities. We are seeking compassionate and reliable Support Workers to join our growing team, providing individualised care and support within the community. Our ethos is to be client-led, promoting independence, inclusion, and empowerment in every session we deliver.


Job Title:

Support Worker – Domiciliary Care


Reports To:

Care Coordinator / Team Leader


Job Purpose:

To provide high-quality care and support to clients in the community, enabling them to live as independently as possible. The role involves supporting clients with a range of needs, including learning disabilities, physical disabilities, and complex care requirements.


Key Responsibilities:

• Provide person-centred care and support tailored to each client’s needs and preferences.

• Some aspects of supporting clients with daily living tasks like personal care, meal preparation, medication, and community access.

• Encourage independence and promote choice, dignity and respect at all times.

• Build trusting relationships with clients and their families.

• Follow individual care plans and risk assessments.

• Accurately record support provided, including incident reports and daily notes.

• Work effectively as part of a team and independently as required.

• Attend regular training and team meetings.

• Maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries at all times.

• Comply with safeguarding protocols and all relevant health and safety procedures.


Person Specification:

Essential:

• Genuine passion for supporting vulnerable people.

• Good communication and interpersonal skills.

• Reliable, flexible, and trustworthy.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

• Willingness to travel locally to client homes and communities.

• Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.

• Willingness to obtain a Children and Adults Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS)

• Basic IT skills for completing records electronically.

• Right to work in the UK.


Desirable:

• Previous experience in a care or support role.

• Relevant qualifications (e.g., NVQ Level 2/3 in Health and Social Care).

• Already obtain a Children and Adults Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS)


Working Hours and Benefits:

This role includes evenings, weekends, and some bank holidays depending on client needs. We offer flexible working hours, mileage allowance, ongoing training, and opportunities for career progression within a supportive and client-focused team.
